Apple's design lesson

It used to seem that plain, unadorned design

had to mean dull looks and boxy shapes.

But Apple have shown us that plain, unadorned design

can mean sleek and sexy.

I'm sure Apple aren't the first or only people to do this, but has anyone else made the point so strongly?
